Join the University of Otago's Centre for Science Communication to celebrate the creativity of its students at the 2015 Red Carpet Event!

From 4-7pm, students will showcase their work at the stunning Dunedin Art Gallery's ODT Gallery. Drop in to enjoy a catwalk down the red carpet, nibbles and a cash bar. Chat to students and staff as you browse the diverse array of what this amazing crew has been up to. PhD and Postgraduate students specialising in Popularising Science, Creative Nonfiction Science Writing and the Science and Natural History Filmmaking will be strutting their stuff. This event is free to attend.

At 7:30pm join us at the Regent Theatre for the premiere screening event of films created by the Science and Natural History Filmmaking students. You'll need to purchase a ticket for this event - just $10 plus applicable booking fees - available through TicketDirect or the Regent Theatre.

PhD Student elected to Society for Social Studies of Science

Second-year PhD student Erika Szymanski has been elected as the new student representative to the
Society for Social Studies of Science. The Society is an interdisciplinary, international association of scholars and practitioners interested in the hows and whys of how science is done and how science interfaces with society. Erika will serve a three year term helping to represent the interests of post-graduate students and other early career scholars in society governance.

The Centre for Science Communication's own Dr. Jenny Rock has had her artwork 'Off the Ends' (shown above) featured in the international art exhibition "From Mountains to Sea." 

Featuring the work of artists from around the world, the contemporary art exhibition explores the science and effects of climate change on our planet. Dr. Rock's work was presented at Art.Science.Gallery, an art gallery and science communication venue based in Austin, Texas that celebrates the fusion between art and science.
